One fine
day Harman and his mother Gurpreet were going to Gurudwara. Harman's
grandparents (Dadi ji and Dada ji) were also with them. They were walking by a
busy road so Gurpreet was trying to hold his son's hand. She said "
Harman, please hold my hand, it's a busy road baby." In reply 4 years old
Harman said " You said I am a big boy now then why should I hold your
hand. I can go by myself." Gurpreet got his curt reply and thought to
trick him in some other way. She said " When a boy and a girl move by the
road side, they always hold hands of each other. As you are a boy and I am a
girl so we should hold each other’s hand. Now give me your hand Harman."
The smart boy Harman gave it a deep thought. It wasn't easy to trick him. He
then said to his mother " Why Dadi ji and Dada ji are not holding each
other’s hands ? They are boy and girl going together on the same road."
Gurpreet was speechless. She underestimated his son. Accepting her failure in
convincing Harman, she requested her in-laws to hold their hands. Now Dadi-
Dada were clueless. She gave them all explanation and requested that this is
the only way to sell this to Harman. Dadi ji started saying " You will
make us feel insulted. At this age, how can I hold Dada's hand!! It wouldn't
look good. What other people will say !!" Gurpreet again got acute reply
from her mother in-law. She noticed Dada ji was smiling and getting red cheeks.
But on Gurpreet's strong request Dada ji held the little finger of Dadi ji and
started walking for Gurudwara. Oh boy Harman!! It was only few steps ahead,
Harman again stopped. Gurpreet asked him " Now what ??". Harman
sweetly replied " When a boy and a girl hold each other's hand while
walking, they swing them back and forth also, just like we are doing Mamma.
Tell Dadi ji and Dada ji to do it like this." Gurpreet laughed and
suddenly stopped laughing with the thought she can't say this to her in-laws,
to swing their hands :). Harman wanted a demonstration before taking any step
further. She apprehensively went to her in-laws again. She told them whole
point what Harman said. Now Dadi ji was full of anger. She started saying
" Why can’t you stop Harman asking so much questions. This boy has given
me a real headache. How would it look, 60 years oldies walking on a busy road,
holding their hands and swinging them as well." Dada ji was still smiling.
He said to Dadi ji " Let’s do it for our baby Harman." Gurpreet was
not able to stop her giggle seeing her in-laws walking in such a way. First
time after her marriage, she saw her in-laws holding each other’s hand. Though
Dadi-Dada were not looking at each other but Harman made them walk like today's
couples :)

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....
haha,,Nicee :)
