Do you like chocolate or do you love it? Or you are one of those who think no matter what happens, chocolate will make it better? Whether chocolate is an occasional sweet, a staple item of your kitchen or just a part of your PMS help, most people agree that there is something about it that makes chocolate very likable. Even research tells us that chocolate is the most commonly craved food and is also one of the favorite foods to be consumed as emotional eating.
I fall in the category of people who occasionally like having chocolate. I remember when I was newlywed, my husband used to bring chocolates for me. My limit was one or two squares in one go and that's why the remaining bars used to rest in the refrigerator for weeks. Slowly he understood that I am a different person :) Soon I had Vibhu (my son) and chocolate made its entry again to my house. Surprisingly for my boy, biting a piece of chocolate means something very comforting and happy. I started keeping chocolate bars as they used to help in confronting my boy's tantrums. However shortly I realized most commercial chocolate has ingredients that add fat, sugar and calories, and too much can contribute to obesity in children. Contrary, the main ingredient of chocolate "cocoa" itself, is low in sugar and fat and offers health benefits (as I read). Thus I kept the consumption of chocolate limited for Vibhu.
One strange and good thing about today's generation parents is they believe in having a healthy alternative to unhealthy food items. We can't keep our children on a separate planet that only has healthy food options. Hence wise is to opt for something which is relatively better for their health and growth. Healthy chocolate sounds like a dream but came true. Recently Vibhu and I tried BeeTee's Melt Chocolates. A handcrafted, gluten-free, 100% preservative-free, refined sugar-free, and soy-free alternative to industrial chocolates. It has the same smooth velvety texture but the sweetness is balanced. BeeTee’s melt chocolates come in three main variants: BeeTee’s Melt 72% dark chocolate with palm sugar, BeeTee’s Melt 48% milk chocolate and BeeTee’s Melt 54% coconut milk chocolate.
I was a little anxious about Vibhu trying a bean to bar chocolate as most of the children are in habit of having those big-name chocolates that are manufactured with so much artificial flavoring, and taste enhancers. One thing I like to add here is that we as a family consume very little sugar. Vibhu likes to have plain milk and is not fond of traditional sweets much. However, he is mad about chocolates; mostly milk chocolates and creamy white chocolate. As it is obvious, dark chocolate is not that liked by Vibhu, he gave thumbs up to the other two variants.I don't want to go much into justifying if having chocolate is healthy or not. But I believe in occasional treats and healthy alternatives. Here are the things I admire about BeeTee’s melt chocolates :
- They are a lot better than commercially available big brand chocolates. They are gluten-free, soy-free, preservative-free and refined sugar-free.
- As I read on the website, chocolates are made in micro-batches with natural ingredients and are usually preservative-free. At BeeTee’s melt, they believe that if you can’t pronounce the ingredient, don’t put it Into your body. Isn't it a fact!
- I also like the catchy and colorful packaging which is sustainable and environment-friendly. This is perfect for gifting.
