Chocolate is not just a food, it is a feeling

Do you like chocolate or do you love it? Or you are one of those who think no matter what happens, chocolate will make it better? Whether chocolate is an occasional sweet, a staple item of your kitchen or just a part of your PMS help, most people agree that there is something about it that makes chocolate very likable. Even research tells us that chocolate is the most commonly craved food and is also one of the favorite foods to be consumed as emotional eating.

I fall in the category of people who occasionally like having chocolate. I remember when I was newlywed, my husband used to bring chocolates for me. My limit was one or two squares in one go and that's why the remaining bars used to rest in the refrigerator for weeks. Slowly he understood that I am a different person :) Soon I had Vibhu (my son) and chocolate made its entry again to my house. Surprisingly for my boy, biting a piece of chocolate means something very comforting and happy. I started keeping chocolate bars as they used to help in confronting my boy's tantrums. However shortly I realized most commercial chocolate has ingredients that add fat, sugar and calories, and too much can contribute to obesity in children. Contrary, the main ingredient of chocolate "cocoa" itself, is low in sugar and fat and offers health benefits (as I read). Thus I kept the consumption of chocolate limited for Vibhu.

One strange and good thing about today's generation parents is they believe in having a healthy alternative to unhealthy food items. We can't keep our children on a separate planet that only has healthy food options. Hence wise is to opt for something which is relatively better for their health and growth. Healthy chocolate sounds like a dream but came true. Recently Vibhu and I tried BeeTee's Melt Chocolates. A handcrafted, gluten-free, 100% preservative-free, refined sugar-free, and soy-free alternative to industrial chocolates. It has the same smooth velvety texture but the sweetness is balanced. BeeTee’s melt chocolates come in three main variants: BeeTee’s Melt 72% dark chocolate with palm sugar, BeeTee’s Melt 48% milk chocolate and BeeTee’s Melt 54% coconut milk chocolate.

I was a little anxious about Vibhu trying a bean to bar chocolate as most of the children are in habit of having those big-name chocolates that are manufactured with so much artificial flavoring, and taste enhancers. One thing I like to add here is that we as a family consume very little sugar. Vibhu likes to have plain milk and is not fond of traditional sweets much. However, he is mad about chocolates; mostly milk chocolates and creamy white chocolate. As it is obvious, dark chocolate is not that liked by Vibhu, he gave thumbs up to the other two variants.

I don't want to go much into justifying if having chocolate is healthy or not. But I believe in occasional treats and healthy alternatives. Here are the things I admire about BeeTee’s melt chocolates :

  1. They are a lot better than commercially available big brand chocolates. They are gluten-free, soy-free, preservative-free and refined sugar-free.
  2. As I read on the website, chocolates are made in micro-batches with natural ingredients and are usually preservative-free. At BeeTee’s melt, they believe that if you can’t pronounce the ingredient, don’t put it Into your body. Isn't it a fact!
  3. I also like the catchy and colorful packaging which is sustainable and environment-friendly. This is perfect for gifting.

If you are a chocolate family or consume it for feeling better emotionally, or just addicted to the taste, you should go for BeeTee’s melt chocolates. They are better than having factory-made artificially flavored bars. Here is the details about website and their insta handle

My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....

My Monsoon Love Hate Love Story

Last year, almost the same time, I packed every belonging of mine and landed to a place which is close to my heart. With bag and baggage, my family moved from Delhi to Lucknow. It was monsoon time when I came here and thank god I witnessed a prosperous rain. Lucknow, though smaller compared to Delhi, is a place I distinguish since childhood. The city of Nawabs is believed as the happiest city in India. As our move was well calculated, my husband and I made sure to have all those things in our lives that I missed being in Delhi. A bigger house (that we can afford), green surroundings, street food access that we missed in Delhi and people who talk in our native tongue. The Hate Story I hated the rain when I was in Delhi. My house was in a busy lane of a crowded Delhi locality, and I was living on the second floor of the building. Hence neither I had easy access to the road, nor to terrace. When it rained, I was forced to stay inside. Roads used to get sunk even after the rain of h...

Food Habits That I Am Going To Change This Year

This post is for New Year resolutions blog train . The blog train is hosted by Vartika, Alpana and Prerna,  sponsored by Pandora's Box and Recipe Dabba. My topic is Dr Feelgood - How are you planning to tweak your Food Habits for 2019 .   We all desire to stay healthy and happy. Yes, happiness is very much connected to our health. But today's sedentary lifestyle has made us fall for quick meals and unhealthy choices. Over the course of time, these quick things give us side effects that rather don't go quick. Eventually, we fall prey to weight loss industry which asks for cutting sugar, salt, oils, carbs, dairy product and almost everything which is there in our kitchens since our grandparents time. We run after different diets (Ketogenic diet, Vegan diet, Raw food diet etc) and we even believe in schemes like having dinner before sunset, getting rid of rice, keeping a distance with fruits and avoiding any type of fat. Is this way of keeping ourselves fit su...
