The Client Visit

Yesterday we had our first client meet. And this was no less than a movie for me. Entertainment - Entertainment - Entertainment .
So here goes the story of this very movie “The client visit”. I know title doesn’t look appealing but as Shakespeare said “What’s in a name?” I have spent only few seconds in deciding this title. If you are still not convinced with my answer, go watch Hindi movie “Suraj ka satvan ghoda”, directed by legend Syam Benegal. Any ways, let me come to the story of this movie. But before I sail through the movie scenes, let me introduce you with star cast of this movie:

·         Actor/Actress: Thomas, Jenny and Ashish
·         Supporting Actor: DS
·         Comedians: Nitin Jain and Sanjeev
·         Special Appearance: Ravi

Scene 1 :

Our team is quite big including 10-15 people. And Those awesome foursomes visited our bay to say hello to us. Sanjeev was with them and as he quickly introduced them, I got first glimpse of Thomas. I was so impressed with his first look. I don't know how US people get successful so early. He was looking so young and already CPO in Merrill. Lucky man !! And then I noticed the lady 'Jenny'- slim, tall and expression less.I repeated the same question in my heart which I asked my times after I crossed 18. Why god why I’m only 5’3 ? May be its result of my previous births and karmas (what Hindu mythology gives as convincing fact of every of our sufferings). And then I noticed her 3 inches shoes and I recalled Roopali’s high heel shoes. Sigh!! I was feeling better.

Then we got a team snap clicked. I was next to DS and thanks to almighty not next to that cactus background where others were standing. I couldn’t notice Ashish during this first meet. May be I had seen him but with assuming him another GL employee I ignored him. Sad and bad!! If you are thinking what role other team members (including me ) were playing then let me tell you a truth. We were actually mob. Did I break your excitement you with saying so? Okay don’t lose your heart, we were background actors. Remember the scene in movie “Om Shanti OM” when Shahrukh Khan played a background actor who only said “Bhagoooo”. At-least this word 'actor' is there in the role type. I’m okay with it.

Scene 2 :

As we all entered the Executive Board Room, I took my chair in back row, reason is simple why to take “riks” (mind it) with sitting in front of them. I don’t want to get exposed to their questions very closely. We all settled down. Thomas stared addressing us and his speech was more friendly than demanding. Oh did I hear it correctly? Merrill’s 3000 employee's futures are in our hands !! I thought we can play with their careers but only if we have our career left anymore. Thomas is father of 4 kids and has a big family including 2 dogs. He doesn’t look like father of 4 kids. Is this his first wedding? His wife’s? Step kids? All this crap was in my mind because of those Hollywood movies. But honestly I see his career in India as our desi Hero. He can come and try his luck in our very own bollywood which always welcomes foreigners.

Jenny was playing the role of a FBI detective that time. She was trying to read our faces. “This guy is smiling so much means he’s doing nothing these days. Oh that guy is sitting very quietly, definitely he’s messing up things. My goodness, I have so much to observe here.”  She was even not interested in giving her introduction. She looked professional, she should be actually! Girls are no less than boys in any field. She’s playing her role the best.

This scene was full of laughter, giggles and chucking. Nitin and Sanjeev played their best part in making the whole scene enjoyable. Their expert yet funny comments added the hint of tang in the introduction session. We all also tried our best to do funny talks. Praveen really, getting up early is your hobby? And Serious Prabhat watches only serious stuff. Sikha likes to explore new things but she’s not sure about what she explored so far. Merrill is everything she’s dreaming about. You have set an example Sikha for other employees. Remember that Sundar Vab visit by some buddy. Crocodiles were as big as Executive Board Room, sounds scary and at the same time absurd. I also want to read about them because I know I can never be there (lazy husband not lazy lamhe!!). Rahul listing to music is your hobby our Indian Ocean for that matter? Jenny and Horse riding, horses must be getting scared with her that’s why she’s able to manage them and do “dressage”.

More scenes to come...

My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....

#MyFriendAlexa - Is Your Blog For Everyone?

A Bit of Introduction  Two months back, I joined a new company as a software project manager. And with this, I also shifted to a new city. I could not write much during this shifting time, as there were many other things that needed my attention on priority. With a new job, new city and a new house, I faced challenges of finding a new school for my kid, a new market where I can buy staple items and a new setup for my family which was in habit of living a comfortable life in Delhi. #MyFriendAlexa I took as an opportunity to proffer life back to my blog which was the most neglected entity of my world during this movement and adjustment span. My target is to write 8 posts for #MyFriendAlexa campaign in which 4 will make you a bit more compassionate person, and remaining 4 will make you more informed. The First Post Of #MyFriendAlexa  Coming back to the title of this post, I know you might be awed to read it. Of course, there is no discrimination who can read the blog...

A Letter to Teen Me - Passing wisdom about Motherhood

Dear Teen me, I know you have many dreams and aspiration for your future life. I very well understand the hard work that you are putting in for a bright career. I do admire your sense of identity and individualness. You are going great. However, there are few others things, about which I want to make you prepare well ahead.  Life is more than making your own path, especially when you are a woman. God has made women with additional responsibility for running this universe. You know which responsibility? It’s "Motherhood". I know that as of now you don’t have much understanding of this whole motherhood phase and what is being a Mother oneself. But, you see, you will be a Mother one day. And when you are a mother, you carry many other responsibilities on your shoulders other than just living for yourself. You are seeing Amma every day but that is the only single sided view of big Motherhood world. A mother lives for her child also. She lives for the dreams of her kids an...
