15 points to prove that you are watching excess of TV

Do you have TV lovers at home who can't live without watching TV? I'm married in a family where watching TV is a family trait that is passed from one generation to other. My in-laws are big-big TV lovers, my husband is another TV freak whom I know and now my son is following the path of his father with developing his liking for TV. Basically I see my whole family as a TV addict tribe. Thanks to new era of technology we can watch TV any time and anywhere. And this concept of repeat telecast has given people the opportunity to catch their number one shows irrespective of schedules and timings.
Below are the few points with which, if you can relate yourself (or your family) then you may be watching too much of TV:
1. You measure how many daily soaps you can accommodate within the time you have, before going out for work or any other commitment.
2. You do multitasking with watching TV, like chopping, cutting, repairing and even anything which can be done with gazing TV.
3. You want to have breakfast/lunch/dinner in your living room (where TV lives).
4. You started liking your favourite show's theme songs. No matter they are good in listening or not.
5. When you bother to stand up for any reason during the TV show telecast, you can see a clean indication on the cushion/sofa/mattress where you were sitting.
6. You can control even nature's call while watching TV and you can regulate it to happen after show ends.
7. You started considering yourself as an expert for the matters like politics, crime, economics and medicines. All thanks to those countless news channels.
8. About few episodes before show's final episode, you start worrying what you will do during that time when show ends.
9. In every new daily soap, you can recognize its characters and you can tell in which shows they have already worked.
10. You have mastered placing things around TV so that you can easily get them when needed. For example, water bottles next to sofa.
11. You feel pain for the TV characters when they are not well or are injured.
12. You can't remember your daily schedule but you remember timings of your best shows.
13. You don't want interruption while watching TV so you have learned ignoring what is happening around you. For example, cries of your baby.
14. Immediately after coming back from market, you switch on the TV rather than wearing off your shoes.
15. And you become tensed with the thought that your TV is not working and you are missing your "so natural", "so real" and "so entertaining" TV soaps.
This idiot box has become the most popular entertainment medium for millions of people around the world. But apart from entertaining and relaxing us, it is damaging us also. Watching excess TV can cause diabetes, depression and heart diseases. It can pile up extra kilos in our bodies. Also, TV watching affects kids with hampering development of their brains and concentration abilities. So please put down the remote and go for a book or other healthy time pass options. Do it for yourself and most importantly for your kids.

My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....

#MyFriendAlexa - Is Your Blog For Everyone?

A Bit of Introduction  Two months back, I joined a new company as a software project manager. And with this, I also shifted to a new city. I could not write much during this shifting time, as there were many other things that needed my attention on priority. With a new job, new city and a new house, I faced challenges of finding a new school for my kid, a new market where I can buy staple items and a new setup for my family which was in habit of living a comfortable life in Delhi. #MyFriendAlexa I took as an opportunity to proffer life back to my blog which was the most neglected entity of my world during this movement and adjustment span. My target is to write 8 posts for #MyFriendAlexa campaign in which 4 will make you a bit more compassionate person, and remaining 4 will make you more informed. The First Post Of #MyFriendAlexa  Coming back to the title of this post, I know you might be awed to read it. Of course, there is no discrimination who can read the blog...

A Letter to Teen Me - Passing wisdom about Motherhood

Dear Teen me, I know you have many dreams and aspiration for your future life. I very well understand the hard work that you are putting in for a bright career. I do admire your sense of identity and individualness. You are going great. However, there are few others things, about which I want to make you prepare well ahead.  Life is more than making your own path, especially when you are a woman. God has made women with additional responsibility for running this universe. You know which responsibility? It’s "Motherhood". I know that as of now you don’t have much understanding of this whole motherhood phase and what is being a Mother oneself. But, you see, you will be a Mother one day. And when you are a mother, you carry many other responsibilities on your shoulders other than just living for yourself. You are seeing Amma every day but that is the only single sided view of big Motherhood world. A mother lives for her child also. She lives for the dreams of her kids an...
