While Choosing Between Adidas and Puma

Sports are well promoted these days. Appreciably, the bravo bash of recent triumphs by Indian sports persons has allowed all of us to reconsider the sports person inside. For a few of those flowing in this wave it is time to identify their sport and choose their sportswear. For most sports persons the latter is as important as choosing their sport. Among all sportswear, shoes are considerably most important. Recently while deciding on my sports shoe brand, I get to know some interesting facts which I am sharing here with you.
Choosing Between Adidas and Puma by Vibhu & Me


I landed upon two well-known brands Adidas and Puma. And when I researched more about them, I found an interesting fact. The two most famous international brands are actually part of one common family owned business. The known as close rivals in the industry today had their origin from a Dassler Brothers Sports Shoe Company of 1920. The two founders of this company were obviously the Dassler brothers, Adlof Dasslers and Rudolf Dassler who had started together in a small town in Germany. Their business boomed after Dassler shoes adorned the feet of gold-medal-winning Olympians in the 1930s. But as their sales spiked, so did the tension between the two brothers. 

 A few years later, believed to be in 1948, the brothers had a serious divide between them and the business got divided among the two. Adolf named his new company as Adidas and Rudolf found Puma as a suitable name as for its company after calling it by the Ruda for some time. The two new companies got established at opposite banks of Aurach river of Herzogenaurach town of Germany.

 I also found stories claiming the reason of divide among them was perceived supremacy of excellence and clashes among their wives. Be it any reason, the two top German shoemakers rushed for excellence to beat the rivalry between the two and we the customers kept getting the advantage of their continuous quality upgrades.

 Although the news was flashed about their burial of hostility in 2009 after the death of Adi and Rudi marked by a friendly sports event sponsored by the two companies jointly, we still choose between Adidas or Puma as one more reliable and affordable and comfortable shoemaker.

Vibhu and Web Series - Gullak is a cheering story

After watching Panchayat , I was again on a hunt for another web series that Vibhu (my 7-year-old boy) can also enjoy. Luckily I found one. It was again a neat and uncomplicated one. No abusive language, no inappropriate talks, and full of comedy, it was really fun to watch " Gullak " with Vibhu. Set in a small town in North India, this web series is about a middle-class Mishra family and their day-to-day struggles. Being a 90s kid, I have seen the craze for clay piggy banks, typically called Gullak. Be it any fair or festival, buying a clay piggy bank was a custom in families of North India (UP) during the early 90s. The Series is named Gullak as in the show, a clay piggy bank, is the narrator of the plot. The Mishra family includes a giving husband, Santosh Mishra; a sarcastically speaking wife, Shanti Mishra; and their two sons.
