5 Reasons Drinking Tea Will Keep You Healthy This Winter

5 Reasons Drinking Tea Will Keep You Healthy This Winter by Vibhu & Me
Winter is in full mood these days in Delhi and one thing which my husband frequently remembers is a cup of Tea. He actually goes with the quote "While there is tea, there is hope."  As the weather is getting cooler, along with coming cold, flu, and other winter issues. But compensations are available and it's very soothing ( I'm talking about adults). All we need is Tea. What can be better than sitting comfortably on a sofa/couch, wrapped in a cozy blanket, a good book in your hand and a steaming cup of tea? Tea, our best friend in winters, warms our hands, throat, and stomach. A single cup of tea can give us great health benefits which can make us enjoy winters with feeling good.

What are some of the things hot tea can do for us?

  • Tea is a healthy brew which is a combination of many natural chemicals, many of them are beneficial and even essential for good health. One such chemical is "Polyphenols" which is a form of antioxidant flavonoids. This chemical helps in fighting ageing, heart disease and possibly even Alzheimer’s.

  • Tea comes in different forms; white, green, black and oolong and each of them have different benefits. Green tea, for example, may build bone density, making our bones stronger and helps in slimming ourselves. It retains more of its flavonoids and has even cancer-fighting properties because it's least processed. Oolong tea boosts metabolism which leads to potential weight loss. A very famous type of tea is "Tulsi tea". "Queen of herbs" tulsi helps us in numerous ways. And all types of Tulsi teas give us many health perks. It even needs a separate blog for detailing out how Tulsi tea benefits us.
  • Studies have found that tea can put a significant effect on our oral hygiene. For example, it has cavity fighting properties. The substance Polyphenols inhibits the growth of bacteria in the mouth and helps prevent plaque build up ( Tea with sugar is a big no-no for oral health).
  • Although tea has caffeine (to some level) but less than as much is there in Coffee. So with giving us a little stimulation and a jolt of energy, it can give alertness to our minds. But it’s not as likely to keep us up all night (compared to Coffee), depending on how much we drink, of course, and how close to bedtime.
  • Tea with sugar, which is the most common form in our country, is not actually a recommended way of having tea. But it's other forms like with lemon and honey bring potential health assets of their own. If you feel a sore throat coming on, have tea with honey. Because it coats the throat and soothes it. Lemon tea helps in boosting our immune system and helps fight off seasonal bugs. Drinking tea with ginger before travelling can help prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness.
  • Other than this, my favourite reason for having tea is," its stress relieving". When I'm back from office, a cup of tea helps me in forgetting the hectic day and it relaxes me a lot. We have a family routine of having tea in the evening. All the family members chit chat with enjoying hot cups of tea. This way, tea is connecting us and making us come along.

So fight all winter blahs with sipping natural teas and bring family members closer with tea parties at home.

My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....

#MyFriendAlexa - Is Your Blog For Everyone?

A Bit of Introduction  Two months back, I joined a new company as a software project manager. And with this, I also shifted to a new city. I could not write much during this shifting time, as there were many other things that needed my attention on priority. With a new job, new city and a new house, I faced challenges of finding a new school for my kid, a new market where I can buy staple items and a new setup for my family which was in habit of living a comfortable life in Delhi. #MyFriendAlexa I took as an opportunity to proffer life back to my blog which was the most neglected entity of my world during this movement and adjustment span. My target is to write 8 posts for #MyFriendAlexa campaign in which 4 will make you a bit more compassionate person, and remaining 4 will make you more informed. The First Post Of #MyFriendAlexa  Coming back to the title of this post, I know you might be awed to read it. Of course, there is no discrimination who can read the blog...

A Letter to Teen Me - Passing wisdom about Motherhood

Dear Teen me, I know you have many dreams and aspiration for your future life. I very well understand the hard work that you are putting in for a bright career. I do admire your sense of identity and individualness. You are going great. However, there are few others things, about which I want to make you prepare well ahead.  Life is more than making your own path, especially when you are a woman. God has made women with additional responsibility for running this universe. You know which responsibility? It’s "Motherhood". I know that as of now you don’t have much understanding of this whole motherhood phase and what is being a Mother oneself. But, you see, you will be a Mother one day. And when you are a mother, you carry many other responsibilities on your shoulders other than just living for yourself. You are seeing Amma every day but that is the only single sided view of big Motherhood world. A mother lives for her child also. She lives for the dreams of her kids an...
