Do You Feel Hesitant In Asking For Something?

Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be open to you!!
These verses are from The Bible, Matthew 7:7.

Bible says, we are the children of God and not beggars. Thus we have all the rights to ask from God’s treasure. And, the same is applicable in our world too. If we want something, all we need to do is Asking for it. However, many of us feel shy in asking for a help or for a favor. We get trapped in an ever going battle that happens right inside us and it never let us open up. We don't ask and we keep anticipating things that actually don't happen.

In my childhood, there were times when I wanted to ask my mother for a different dress than what she chose for me, but I didn't. I thought that she would scold me. In school, I wanted to ask my teacher to slow down a bit, so that I could understand better, but I didn't because I thought my classmates would consider me as a fool. I wanted to ask the lady, sitting beside me in the bus, about a certain place. But I didn't as I feared that she would guess that I was new to that place and could harm me. I want my husband to take me on a vacation, but I am not asking as I think that he has a lot of work pressure and my request could annoy him.

These are a few my own life's examples and I am sure similar apprehensions you also have in your life, around Asking. Let's try to understand WHY and have a look at these barriers that stop us from asking:
  • First and most important is Low Self-Esteem. I thought if I ask my teacher to repeat what she explained in class, she would think that I was less attentive and I never made my request. Clearly, I was less confident at that time.
  • The second barrier in asking is Pride. Sometimes we avoid asking as we think it’s a matter of pride to know everything and asking will put our pride on the ground.
  • The third barrier is Fear, Fear of Rejection, or sometimes fear of humiliation. Before even asking, sometimes we withdraw, thinking that the person we are going to request, will reject or deny.
  • Last but not the least Ignorance. Sometimes we don’t know what to ask for. Nowadays we have internet, and we can all kind of information. But still, sometimes we don’t know how to ask and sometimes whom to ask.
Once my father was traveling to Jaipur by train. He had to go to the washroom, so he left his suitcase in the coach unattended.Once he was back to his seat, his suitcase was stolen. This is a very common case, and it happens with everyone while leaving our belonging for a small duration. All we need to do is to ask our co-passenger or nearby people to take care of it. Asking harms no one and it could save you from theft as well.

I had a friend in my college who used to like my roommate. My roommate also liked him very much. But these two people said nothing to each other ever. Time passed by, and to our surprise, another boy from another class proposed my roommate and she accepted the proposal. When I asked my roommate why she said yes to the new boy, she answered that this boy proposed her first and ask for her friendship. She couldn't deny as he himself asked for her presence in his life. Clearly, at times, delay in asking something could give a lifelong regret.

Ask and You Shall Receive

If you really want something from someone, don’t sit and brood, go and ask :
  • Ask for love, ask for a hug, ask for listening.
  • Ask for forgiveness, ask for attention, ask for commitment, ask for prayer.
  • Ask for a helping hand in the home, ask for a favor.
  • Ask for promotion, ask for a hike in salary.
  • Ask for a better table at a restaurant, ask for a discount.
So, next time, you need anything, find the correct person, use the correct tone and Ask it.
And believe me, there is 90% chance, that you will get it. Remeber the advertisement of TATA SKY "Puch dala to Life jhingalala". This actually holds true.

HAPPY ASKING!

My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns....

#MyFriendAlexa - Is Your Blog For Everyone?

A Bit of Introduction  Two months back, I joined a new company as a software project manager. And with this, I also shifted to a new city. I could not write much during this shifting time, as there were many other things that needed my attention on priority. With a new job, new city and a new house, I faced challenges of finding a new school for my kid, a new market where I can buy staple items and a new setup for my family which was in habit of living a comfortable life in Delhi. #MyFriendAlexa I took as an opportunity to proffer life back to my blog which was the most neglected entity of my world during this movement and adjustment span. My target is to write 8 posts for #MyFriendAlexa campaign in which 4 will make you a bit more compassionate person, and remaining 4 will make you more informed. The First Post Of #MyFriendAlexa  Coming back to the title of this post, I know you might be awed to read it. Of course, there is no discrimination who can read the blog...

A Letter to Teen Me - Passing wisdom about Motherhood

Dear Teen me, I know you have many dreams and aspiration for your future life. I very well understand the hard work that you are putting in for a bright career. I do admire your sense of identity and individualness. You are going great. However, there are few others things, about which I want to make you prepare well ahead.  Life is more than making your own path, especially when you are a woman. God has made women with additional responsibility for running this universe. You know which responsibility? It’s "Motherhood". I know that as of now you don’t have much understanding of this whole motherhood phase and what is being a Mother oneself. But, you see, you will be a Mother one day. And when you are a mother, you carry many other responsibilities on your shoulders other than just living for yourself. You are seeing Amma every day but that is the only single sided view of big Motherhood world. A mother lives for her child also. She lives for the dreams of her kids an...
