Social media is no longer a time-pass thing engaging only those who have leisure time after work. I know many people who are running their businesses on social media only making it a professional engagement too. They endorse their skills, products and business offerings here. For instance, many of the mommies I am in touch with are mommy-bloggers who use social media to promote their blogs. This has also become a profession for many of them who get paid for their blogs’ content and promotion. Social media also brings many other paid opportunities for people who have the desired kind of talent in them. My changed view about social platforms encouraged me to develop my social wings too.
My raising social wings made me join Instagram recently. I followed many on Insta, mostly the fellow mothers, who are already popular Insta mothers. Honestly, I am a bit not set in posting my updates on this new platform as I am used to of posting my thoughts in clearly stated textual form instead of posting pictures with various hashtags. Nonetheless, I stumbled before I could start getting my followers count. Now that I have more than a cent followers of mine on the new social platform (Instagram) I joined, I am happy with my raising popularity in this word of snaps and videos.
As I belong to the category of Insta-Moms, I generally post pictures of my little hero like other moms who post the snaps of their kids mostly. Though I know on social media everyone’s life appears to be so put together that nothing ever goes wrong for them, I am somewhat not sure about the perfection of pictures that others mommies post here of their kids. I hit a ‘like’ on every such picture post, comment on a few of them and ask myself silently “how these moms get such clear shots of their kids!!" Is it I being lazy and snoozy or something else, that I find my Insta click posts less frequent than many others. I would rather say it is the lack of those perfects shots in my phone gallery that I feel like sharing with others on Insta. My little three years old, who is the soul of mine and a real cutie, is too naughty to get clicked for an Insta ready frame. And that's why I often wonder how those kids (of Insta Moms) perfectly recite a story or a rhyme when are asked so that it can be recorded or posted live? How they agree to wear new clothes of different brands and get clicked in such attitude? How?
My son is a flamboyant soul. He does only what he feels likes and certainly not what I ask him to do. Earlier I used to make him wear what I found suitable. But now he makes choices. He fusses if I disagree with his choice. Even If I want him to do what I want, I have to bribe him. When I see the posts of other mothers, I also feel like clicking the moments of my baby boy when we are both laughing, playing, dancing or doing some other awesome deed together. But the naughty boy does not allow a still second for any click that I can take. For many Facebook and Insta contests, my husband and I tried our best to make our son answer somethings. We failed miserably. Our boy was unstoppable when it comes staying still. He was talking silly when we expected him to answer sensibly. We, husband-wife, wasted some time getting our perfect moment while capturing our boy performing. But we gave up and posted the less poor clip for the contest among many other poorest.
Quite honestly it's just too much! Expecting a 3-year-old, obeying his mother or father when especially asked, is nearly impossible. At least with the one like I have. But again the question is "How Insta moms are sharing those flawless pictures of their kids?", "What am I not doing as a mother to make my son obey me?","Am I a good mother of the new generation?"
The zeal with which most other mothers post on Insta clicking the perfect moments of their young ones, sometimes makes me question myself whether I am a happy mother or not. But then I get a consoling answer from within that I don't require social media approval for my being a happy mother. See, I am reasonable and enlightened enough with my own views, though I still get fascinated by those perfect poses that cute kids give to their mothers so that they can post it on Instagram. How!!
